We're going to the Zoo, Zoo, Zoo

All the big kids saying "cheese"!!
Abby enjoying her first trip to the zoo.
Andrew was obsessed with feeding the birds--he really, really wanted one to perch on his arm but they kept eating and then flying away.

Emily and Grant decided we needed to have a "buddy". Really I think they just wanted an excuse to hold hands ;)--just look at the glare she is giving me!!
We felt better about the whole "buddy" thing once they were taking care of the twins too.

Ethan--he was walking like a crab--we didn't see any crabs at the zoo but apparently he wanted to do something an animal would do.
My family :)
All of the kids could not get enough of the turtles--they were fascinated by them!!

So a few weekends ago we got to have Grant spend the weekend with us and we decided it would be fun for everyone if we went done to the Zoo for the day. The kids all had a blast. Even Abby seemed to enjoy it. Ethan and Olivia loved that they were not strapped into the stroller and were free to look around at things for as long as they wanted to. It was a new experience for them. I love the Columbia Zoo because it is relatively small and very flat--the Asheboro Zoo and the Oakland Zoo (two zoos I have been to a lot with children) have some significant hills and by the end of the day there mom is feeling pretty exhausted. Whereas, at the Columbia Zoo everyone is able to make it through the day without too much complaining about being tired. Which in my book makes for a terrific family outing!!

  1. Oh my gosh I love the pictures of Emily and Grant holding hands. Why do they look so comfortable with that? hilarious! :)
